Black Stars head coach, Chris Houghton named a 25 man squad for Angola’s double clash for the AFCON qualifiers today. The only new name in the squad is FC Sheriff Tiraspol’s Patrick Kpozo who plays as a left back.

The 25 year old player replaced Reading FC’s Baba Rahman who has received a lot of backlash from Ghanaians for his uninspiring performance whenever he puts on the Black Stars jersey.But who is Patrick Kpozo and what are his numbers this season? Does he deserve the call up?

Patrick Kpozo was born on 15th July 1997. He plied his trade for Inter Allies in 2015 while in Ghana and represented the Ghana Black Satellites on two occasions.

Kpozo joined FC Sheriff Tiraspol from Östersunds in 2022. This season, he has featured in the Moldovan Cup and league. He has also had games in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League. But how has he fared for Sheriff Tiraspol in those competitions?

He has played a total of 1,876 minutes for his club in 24 games and have assisted once. He has played a total of 6 games in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stage (540 minutes), played 8 in the Europa League including 2 qualifying games and 2 games in the Conference League. He has featured 7 times in the Moldovan Super Liga(438 minutes) and once in the Moldovan Cup.
